Internet & Connectivity

Review basic steps when a Chromebook or other device is having trouble connecting to the internet.

Common Technology Problems

    • Make sure the Chromebook has been charged.
    • Connect the school-issued charger and wait several minutes before trying again.
    • Confirm the charger is securely connected to both the Chromebook and the power outlet.
    • Try a different electrical outlet if available.
    • Press and hold the power button for several seconds.
    • If the Chromebook still does not turn on, report the problem rather than attempting to open or repair the device.
    • Check that the charger is fully connected to the Chromebook and wall outlet.
    • Inspect the charger and cable for visible damage.
    • Try another electrical outlet.
    • Do not force the charging connector into the Chromebook.
    • If the charger or charging port appears damaged, stop using it and report the issue.
    • Confirm that you are using the correct school username.
    • Carefully re-enter your password and check for typing errors.
    • Make sure Caps Lock is not accidentally enabled.
    • Confirm that the Chromebook is connected to the internet.
    • Restart the Chromebook and try again.
    • If you continue to have trouble, follow the school account support process.
    • Do not share your password or ask another student to access your account.
    • If you forgot your school account password or cannot sign in, contact the Technology Department for assistance.
    • Be prepared to provide your name, grade, and the account or application you are trying to access.
    • Never share your password with another student.
    • If you believe someone else has accessed your account, notify the Technology Department immediately.
    • Refresh the page.
    • Confirm that the Chromebook is connected to the internet.
    • Close and reopen the browser or application.
    • Restart the Chromebook.
    • Try accessing another website to determine whether the problem is with one service or the internet connection.
    • If the problem continues, note the website or application name and any error message you see before requesting help.
    • Confirm that Wi-Fi is turned on.
    • Check whether the Chromebook shows that it is connected to a wireless network.
    • Move closer to the wireless router or access point when using the device at home.
    • Restart the Chromebook.
    • If other devices in the home also cannot connect, the issue may be with the home internet service or router.
    • Families should contact their internet provider for home-service outages or router issues.
    • Stop using the device if continued use could make the damage worse.
    • Do not attempt to open, repair, glue, tape, or otherwise modify the Chromebook.
    • Report cracked screens, broken hinges, damaged keyboards, charging-port problems, liquid exposure, or other physical damage promptly.
    • Follow the procedures outlined on the Chromebook Care & Support page.
    • Check classrooms, bags, lockers, and other recent locations first.
    • Report the missing Chromebook or charger promptly.
    • Do not wait several days hoping the device will appear.
    • School staff will document the issue and provide the appropriate next steps.
    • Students and families may be responsible for lost school-issued equipment consistent with school policy.
